Need Help with ordering the correct Typewriter Ribbon?
Welcome to our "Typewriter Ribbon Help" page!
There are many typewriters out there but to help us supply you with the correct ribbon - please follow the following hints.
1) Does you machine take a cassette or does it take a twin spool ribbon (like the picture on the right).
2) If it is a cassette, send us an email with the full make and model of the machine and we will try to get you a replacement. Some cassettes are no longer available - but let us try before you give up hope. Or you can take a picture and email that.
3) If it is a twin spool ribbon, measure the small hole in the centre of the ribbon (as shown by the blue arrow on the picture) - it should be either 4mm, 5mm, or 6mm in diameter.
4) Measure the diameter of the spool, if the measurement is 50-55mm then we can send you new spools.
5) if the measurement is smaller or much larger, then it will be necessary to put new ribbon onto your spools, we call this respooling.
If it is one of the above measurements then we can supply plastic spooled ribbons in either black or black/red.
If it isn't any of the above - don't dispair - it may be possible to re-spool the new ribbon onto your existing spools - either way let us know and we will try to help.
Some machines dont have spools like the one in the picture (above right). For example The old Remington spools are a bit like large male wedding rings with spikes on (rough description). These spools are no longer available so you will have to use the new ribbon and wind it onto the old spools.
Either way give us a call and we will try to advise you further.
